Do you exfoliate before or after cleansing?

With ZO® Exfoliating Cleanser, you do both simultaneously: it is a cleanser and exfoliator in one step. Use it as Step 1 of your Getting Skin Ready® system, morning and evening. For deeper exfoliation, follow with ZO® Exfoliating Polish as a separate physical exfoliation step.

What is an exfoliating cleanser?

An exfoliating cleanser combines daily cleansing with exfoliation in a single step. ZO® Exfoliating Cleanser uses dual exfoliation: biodegradable jojoba beads (physical) for surface smoothing, and salicylic acid, a BHA, for chemical exfoliation that penetrates deep into pores to clear oil and debris.

Is ZO Exfoliating Cleanser good for oily skin?

Yes. It is specifically formulated for Normal to Oily skin. Salicylic acid (BHA) is oil-soluble, meaning it penetrates inside pores to dissolve excess sebum and prevent congestion. For very oily skin, follow with ZO® Complexion Renewal Pads (Step 2 of Getting Skin Ready®) for additional sebum control.

Does ZO Exfoliating Cleanser help with blackheads?

Yes. Salicylic acid is a BHA (beta-hydroxy acid) that is oil-soluble and works inside the pore lining to dissolve the dead skin cells and sebum that cause blackheads. Regular use helps keep pores clear, reducing visible congestion over time.

Is ZO Exfoliating Cleanser a BHA cleanser?

Yes. ZO® Exfoliating Cleanser contains salicylic acid, which is a beta-hydroxy acid (BHA). Unlike AHAs (which are water-soluble), BHA is oil-soluble, meaning it passes through the lipid layer on skin to work inside the pore. This makes it particularly effective for oily, blemish-prone, and congested skin types.

How do I use ZO Exfoliating Cleanser?
